Who Is Driving The Right Wing Terror Brigade?

There is a growing demand to get the real culprits to book in both the Ajmer and Hyderabad Mecca Masjid blasts. The people of Hyderabad, especially the Muslims see a lot of hope in the statement made by the Central Bureau of Investigation in which it was said that both the blasts were interlinked.

There are several similarities in both these incidents. Both were triggered off by a mobile phone, both blasts were of low intensity, both blasts occurred at the time of the holy month of Ramazan and both the bombs were wrapped in a Telegu newspaper. Ironically the initial statements by the police of both states were similar. Both blamed differences within the Muslim sects and said that it was the enemity between both the sects that caused this explosion.

In the Mecca Masjid blasts, the blame fell on Shahid Bilal, the late member of the HuJI while in Ajmer a youth by the name Salim was blamed. Salim too was a resident of Hyderabad who lost his life in that blast while he was praying at the Dargah.
However now the direction in which the investigation would progress is very clear. The CBI is looking at the role played by Devendra Gupta and Chandrashekar Barod in both these blasts. Sources in the investigating agency told rediff.com that both these cases will have to be investigated together since they are similar in nature. Both Gupta and Barod are being questioned about their links to both these blasts and it is just a matter of time before the case becomes crystal clear.

The terror cycle: Investigations have now made it clear that it was the same group which worked together to trigger off all these blasts including the one that took place in Malegaon. This entire chain was triggered off at Nanded. A couple of disgruntled youth alleged to be right wing activists had hatched a plan to carry out a blast in order to avenge the various other incidents of terrorism believed to be carried out by the Muslim community. Soon after this, the role of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur came into the picture. She is said to have a soft corner towards a man by the name, Sunil Joshi who was later killed by members of the Students Islamic Movement of India. She decided to avenge this and in the meantime got in touch with the likes of Colonel Purohit, who is believed to have played a large role in the Malegaon blasts. These members decided to target key locations in India which were Muslim dominated. Purohit who was with the military intelligence even managed to procure RDX for the operation.

While the investigating agencies have managed to establish the roles played by Purohit and Sadhvi in the Malegaon blasts, they are looking closely into the manner in which Gupta and Barod carried out the other two blasts. We believe there is a strong connection and would like to question all others in this circle yet again in order to get more leads, an officer said. The names of Gupta and Barod too had cropped up during the scientific tests conducted on Pragya Singh Thakur and this is what led us to apprehend them. The police had kept a watch on these two men for more than 6 months before apprehending them.

The investigations so far reveal that Gupta had arranged for fake identification cards while his accomplice had procured fake sim cards. These sim cards were inserted into the mobile phone which triggered off the blast.

There is very heavy reliance on these two men in order to crack both these cases. Sunil Joshi, the friend of Sadhvi who was murdered allegedly by SIMI is believed to have carried out the Ajmer blasts. He is considered to be the mastermind in this case and could have well been in the planning of the Mecca Masjid blasts too, sources point out.

Another God Man: Immediately after the Malegaon case got cracking the name of Swami Dayanand Pandey came to light. A powerful swami, he had spilled the beans on why exactly the Sadhvi teamed up with Colonel Purohit to carry out the blasts.
Today the CBI is on the trail of another God Man by the name Aseemanand Swami. Sources say that he is a hardliner and during the various conversations that he had had with the accused persons, he has spoke about revenge. He was mainly involved in reconverting tribals from Christianity to Hinduism in Gujarat. The Rajasthan ATS is currently on his trail. The investigators believe that this man will give them more leads into the case.

The Goa case: Initially it was suspected that even the blast at Goa could be connected with the rest of the above mentioned blasts. However the investigations and the chargesheet suggests that this operation was carried out by a different batch of people.

Sanathan Sanstha, the organization which was blamed for this incident however states that the members involved in these blasts were not dedicated workers of the organization. Abhya Vartak, the convenor says that 4 of them were members, but that does not mean that the Sanstha is behind the blasts. We have been conducting programmes and telling our members that we do not subscribe to violent means, he says.
